鍍就是利用電解原理在某些金屬表面上鍍上一薄層其它金屬或合金的過程,
是利用電解作用使金屬或其它材料制件的表面附著一層金屬膜的工藝從而起到防止金屬氧化(如銹蝕),提高耐磨性、導(dǎo)電性、反光性、
抗腐蝕性(硫酸銅等)及增進美觀等作用。不少硬幣的外層亦為電鍍。電鍍時,鍍層金屬或其他不溶性材料做陽極,待鍍的工件做陰極,
鍍層金屬的陽離子在待鍍工件表面被還原形成鍍層。為排除其它陽離子的干擾,且使鍍層均勻、牢固,需用含鍍層金屬陽離子的溶液做電鍍液,
以保持鍍層金屬陽離子的濃度不變。電鍍的目的是在基材上鍍上金屬鍍層,改變基材表面性質(zhì)或尺寸。
電鍍能增強金屬的抗腐蝕性(鍍層金屬多采用耐腐蝕的金屬)、增加硬度、防止磨耗、提高導(dǎo)電性、光滑性、耐熱性和表面美觀。電鍍鋅俗稱冷鍍鋅,
是采用電化學(xué)的方式,將鋅錠作為陽極,鋅原子失去電子后成為離子狀態(tài)溶解到電解液中,而鋼帶作為陰極,
鋅離子在鋼帶上得到電子還原成鋅原子沉積到鋼帶表面,形成鍍層。

The outer layers of many coins are also electroplated. When plating, the plating metal or other insoluble materials are made as the anode,
the workpiece to be plated is made as the cathode,
and the cation of the coated metal is reduced on the surface of the workpiece to be plated to form the plating layer.
In order to eliminate the interference of other cations and make the coating uniform and firm,
a solution containing coated metal cation is needed to keep the concentration of coated metal cation constant.
The purpose of plating is to plating metal on the substrate and change the surface properties or dimensions of the substrate.
Electroplating can enhance the corrosion resistance of metal (coating metal is mostly used in corrosion-resistant metal), increase hardness, prevent wear,
improve electrical conductivity, smoothness, heat resistance and surface appearance. Electroplating, commonly known as cold galvanizing,
is the electrochemical way, zinc ingot as the anode, zinc atoms lose electrons into the ion state dissolved into the electrolyte, and steel strip as the cathode,
zinc ions in the steel band by electron reduction into zinc atoms deposited on the surface of the steel band, forming a coating.
